The autumn usually means the time of the wedding season is slowing down after
the peak in September, the nature is changing the colors of the world around us
and setting the scene for magical photographs. This October was extra special, I
was invited to go back to Italy, probably my favorite place to visit, and one that I
hope to go back to, in this capacity, as a wedding photographer, as well as a
happy visitor.
My destination was Udine, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, the venue, magical Castello Formentini. I was invited by my wedding couple, Rebecca and Davide, both my colleague photographers, which made this invitation even more exciting. And to top it all off, they had a special place in mind for the post-wedding photoshoot, my dream type of place, a bucket list one, but more on that later. The morning of the wedding, I was excited for a cup of Italian coffee to start the day off, and then we headed to the venue. And the venue screams AUTUMN. This is a 15th-century castle located on a hilltop overlooking the town of Gorizia, surrounded by vineyards of the Collio Wine Region.

The stone walls were covered with red and green vine leaves, growing all the way to the roofs and even covering parts of it, on the side, a flight of red brick stairs leading us inside. At the entrance, a carefully crafted arrangement of dried flowers and leaves giving guests
a true autumn welcome.
The decoration was done by the wedding planner Miai events planner, and it was so magical, different, and colorful, it just goes to show how inspiring autumn can be. Confirming how special this Halloween-themed wedding truly was is the fact that it was featured in the Rock n Roll Bride magazine. This magazine features only unique and alternative weddings, focusing on inclusivity and individuality, covering everything different, from gothic, bohemian, and rockabilly themes. This was so exciting, seeing my photos in such a cool publication.

Walking inside the venue and looking down the aisle, wooden benches on each side, pumpkins, dried leaves and flowers, and candles line the aisle all the way to the arched altar of colorful leaves and white roses in perfect harmony, awaiting our couple to seal their love in marriage. Round tables with black table cloths and similar autumn decorations on each table, in a candlelit room with vines of little lights across the ceiling, portray the feeling of the autumn and a Halloween theme perfectly in the dining room. Each table guarded by a figurine of a different animal for a personal touch; on the couple’s table, a figurine of their beloved pet dog. The wedding day was truly something special and different, and it was a pleasure to capture it all with my camera.

We did part of the photo shoot outside after the ceremony and included these carved pumpkins that brought everything to a different level. Family and friends celebrating Rebecca and Davide, their love and their marriage, made this autumn day a warm memory for all.

The next day was exciting for me, a highlight, one might say. We had a bit of a drive ahead of us to get to our destination, one that is personally special for Rebecca and Davide. They were waiting for us, in all their glory, the Dolomites.
